Stuck leading when all you wanted was to build something great?

when success is about MORE than money

Hey Reader,

My dream as a teenager was to be on worldwide speaking tours giving speeches at podiums!!

That was my idea of success.

As a young adult, success was having enough money to have a lifestyle of holidays and clothes I thought I deserved.

As a 40 yo first time entrepreneur, I JUST wanted to pay my mortgage.

And another 10 years later, success is freedom. Freedom to work with who I want to work with. Freedom of how I spend my time.

Our definitions of success change as we change.

I’ve heard a lot of definitions of success from my clients over the years:

🙌 A bigger house and a flasher car

🙌 Becoming a VP by 30

🙌 Sending my kids to the best school

🙌 Being top of my field

Define success however you want.

But here’s the real question: once you achieve what you’ve been striving for, how do you feel?

To be clear, I’m not saying money doesn’t matter. It absolutely does. But when your needs are being met with the money you have, what then?

In my view, a looser definition of success serves us better in the long term.

Something that isn’t so tied up with an extrinsic measures.

Something that can reflect our soul’s hope for a live worth living.

Like the line written by Maya Angelou,

“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.”

🚀 Are you living your definition of success, or is it time for a re-evaluation?

Your wing woman,

Catherine
